SURVIVAL RATING - 8.5
The Cold Steel Natchez Bowie Knife is the definitive "fighting Bowie."
The long blade of the Natchez Bowie is perfectly shaped for reach and leverage. In addition, the significant weight is flawlessly balanced, giving it unparalleled liveliness and velocity. Combine that with the wickedly razor sharp edge and you have a Bowie Knife that pierces like a dagger, cuts like a razor and chops like a cleaver.
The Cold Steel Natchez Bowie Knife uses the very best materials and incorporates superb craftsmanship to make a Bowie like the Natchez possible. The blade is made of vacuum heat-treated VG-1 San Mai III blade construction. It's a costly and difficult formulation but the resulting blade is virtually indestructible. Since the handle plays a big role in the overall performance of the Natchez Bowie, Cold Steel uses a double quillion guard, bolster and pommel made of highly polished 300 series stainless steel and a gorgeous black linen Micarta handle. The Natchez handle will accommodate a wide variety of gripping methods as well as serving as a very formidable impact weapon.
To further compliment the Natchez Bowie and to further cement its position as the quintessential fighting Bowie, it comes with a traditional black leather scabbard. Made from the finest leather, the sheath is beautifully stitched and reinforced with nickel-silver rivets. it also features a thick nickle-silver belt peg so you can slip it in your waistband or under your belt without fear of losing it.
Is the Natchez Bowie expensive? Uh ... yeah, it is. Is it worth it? If you want to own the absolute pinnacle of Bowie Knives, and want a Bowie that can be handed down generation to generation, and that will also serve as an outstanding Survival Knife, then ... yeah, the Natchez Bowie is definitely worth the money.
